Biography

Bracket is an afro pop/highlife duo comprising vocalists Obumneme Ali (Smash) and Nwachukwu Ozioko (Vast). Both Vast and Smash grew up in Nsukka, Enugu state where they used to attend campus shows. Both are graduates of the University of Nigeria Nsukka and started out miming songs made popular by Michael Jackson and R. Kelly.

They have released 4 albums as a duo under Ape Planet management. Bracket has toured American and European countries and have a considerable fan base across Africa. Vast was diagnosed with Lymphoma, a form of cancer that affects the blood cells but was given the all clear following some treatment. The album and single, Alive is influenced by his experiences.

Trivia

Bracket received an honorary award by the Mayor of Philadelphia in 2012.

Bracket started as a three member group before a pioneer member Bistop dropped out.

Bistop and Vast participated in the Star Quest competition in 2002 with the moniker Furious B.V
