Peter and Paul Okoye are choosing to stay together as P-Square, but there’s a catch

After weeks of dramatic events that culminated in a messy twitter rant, and both halves of the P-Square brand dropping individual singles using their first names, it appears all is well and good again with the P-Square family… well sort of.

Taking to social media once again, to air their issues, both P-Square brothers seem to be intent on making their team effort work, albeit with the added clause of taking Jude out of the equation. At least that is what we can tell from Peter’s end of the picture.

From Paul’s end, he seems more surprised about his twin brother’s desperation to fly a solo career but he inadvertently admits, he is still fully committed to the P-Square brand.

Paul Okoye:

All you all want is psquare,…all I want is family, love and care!!! Social media is the new root of all evil!! There’s family before Psquare and there will always be family after PSquare ….Jude was only a scape goat and a victim .The person who has been keeping us together for all these years,..the truth is peter and Paul have issues!.For the first time I decided to do something outside Psquare ,and that is the case study here.I have always supported my brother 100% from His personal endorsements to dance with Peter which some re still on my I.g… Now I have just 3 questions….Why is it that these things are happening immediately I released muno’s singles under Rudeboy Recordz. no.2 .. How come after Jude stopped managing psquare for over a month now, the problem still exists. No.3 why is he in a hurry to go solo and doing solo? It’s very sad, and I’m very heart broken😢 I wish these things never came out to the public first… Now our fans are divided 😢 pls nobody shld support any teamPaul sh*t, I don’t need that.. Pls resist from it cos that’s evil…and for those of you promoters , supporting him to be performing psquare’s songs alone on stage, you are only killing us and destroying us the more. Dear brother am begging you, even if you don’t want Jude anymore and you don’t want psquare, u re forever going to be my brother … But I wish the 3 of us could still do these together, bcos it’s a thing of joy….people love us so much not only because of our good music but seeing brothers doing it together and keeping it together, setting a good example to other families and to our kids. Pls swallow ur pride, forgive and forget, we can still turn these things around…. If I have said anything or done anything that hurts you. Am very sorry…. And to all our true fans pls pray for us. God bless you all.

Peter Okoye:

Hi guys. Thanks for the love and support, I so much appreciate everyone of you.
For public record, I don’t have any issues with my brother Paul the only issue I have is with the management which I have disassociated myself with. There is a clear line between family and business, Jude still remains my brother, he is just no longer my manager. For the record also, P’square still remains, the only difference is that we are under separate managements and there is nothing wrong with that. I see no wrong in doing separate projects and still being together as P’square. I love my brother Paul, I support him and wish him the very best in life but misguiding the media is not the right thing to do, if we have issues as brothers, the right thing to do is settle it between ourselves and not give media something to feed on. I took family issues to the public when I went on a Twitter rant but I apologized for that, you shouldn’t do the same, making me look like a bad person and giving the public an opportunity to crucify me is not a solution. You went solo first by releasing a song with ‘Tiwa’ and your new artists. This doesn’t stop us from producing good music together or giving our fans the best of P’square, it’s just time for personal development. I am not against Rudeboy Records, northside entertainment and wish you the very best. Thanks for the love once again. God bless you all. #PSquareForever #Mr.P #Rudeboy.

Did we see that coming? Well yes,  sort of.

Even though both of these statements indicate that the group will  be staying together as P-Square, it is however still clear that there are internal issues  in the P-Square camp that supercedes the Jude  management and money sharing formla speculations popularised in the media.

Some of that problem is probably attributable to power arrangements within the Okoye clan and the presumed needlessness of signed contracts due to the family nature of the trio’s relationship at the start of their careers.

Either ways, we hope this is the last we hear of the exhausting emotional rigmarole of the P-Square family. As two of the biggest pop stars out of Africa in their lifetime, we do hope they sort all of their dirty laundry behind the scenes without getting us fans involved. We have always known and  loved P-Square. Nobody gives a shit about Peter or Paul Okoye.

In the meantime, the duo used the opportunity of the buzz about their future to promote a concert in Rotterdam, on March 26th
