We are adding more names to the list of artistes taking African music global and Ayo Jay is the newest comer on that block.

Say hello to latest addition to the Sony @rcarecords family. Words really can’t express what this moment means to me, but I’d like to give all the Glory to God for his continuous blessings. It’s been a real journey from recording voice note hooks on my phone, to learning how to record in the studio, to actually making good records. Can’t thank @onenationrecords enough for believing blindly in my ability and for developing me till date. As we move to the next level together, I have no doubt in my mind I’m with the right team. To my family and close friends, I’ll forever be grateful and will continue to make sure you are proud of me. To my new family @rcarecords, thanks for this wonderful opportunity to take what I love doing to the next level. I plan on making history here. And last but not the least my lovely fans, thank you for the LOVE and unwavering support you’ve shown me since I started putting out records online in 2011. Now more than ever, I need your love and support, and I pledge to always give you the very best of me. Love! The One Nation records artiste just landed what NotJustOk calls a seven figure deal with RCA Records, a recording label for Sony Music. Ayo Jay will be joining, Sia, Chris Brown, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift amongst others on the label as the newest signee from Africa.

But none of this comes as shocking news to anyone. Though the singer had tried severally with numbers like Think about Me, Available, Don’t Say That to break into the Nigerian music market, it appears his music has found an international following like no other. His debut single, Your Number gained a bit of traction on the Nigerian and foreign soundscapes, but Ayo Jay didn’t hit it big until he released a remix of the song featuring Fetty Wap.

Besides amassing a cult-level listenership of over 7.6 million streams, Your Number topped Soundcloud’s Dancehall charts for 5 weeks straight. The adjoining visuals currently has a viewer count of over 12 million streams and just last month, the massive attention his music was gaining landed him a Rollingstone feature, making him one of the few Nigerians the magazine has featured over its years of publishing. This is not a playing sturvs people.

Ayo Jay’s deal comes at the beginning of a new era in Nigerian music where artistes are making sure they don’t repeat the mistakes of those who have tested the international waters before them. History will not be quick to forget these moments. Africa to the world people. Africa to the world!
