In January, 2015, YBNL CEO, Olamide signed fast rising indigenous rappers, Chinko Ekun and Xino Kuti on the record label.
Chinko Ekun, who is currently a part 3 Law student at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife featured on Olamide’s last album “Street OT”, spitting his heavy and witty verses on tracks like “One Hundred to Million”, “Bang” and “Usain Bolt”.
Although Chinko Ekun’s new singles “Emi Na Re” and “Alejo Oran” were great songs in their own way, they failed to launch the “Ekun” rapper into the music industry the way “Eni Duro” announced Olamide into stardom.
However, Chinko fills in that gap in his live performances. Of recent was his thrilling performance at Felabration 2015. I heard someone tell his friend, “That Olamide’s guy, Chinko Ekun killed it”. I know Chinko to be dramatic and theatrical with his performances. I am yet to see a Nigerian rapper as creative as this NEXT SUPERSTAR.
I have this uncle who is obsessed with Chinko. “That your boy will blow o”, he says. I just tell him to calm down. “You’ve not seen anything brother. That guy can go 100 live performances without repeating lyrics and he will still bring the roof down.”
Chinko, who started his career at a school party – Azonto Mask party at Ogunbanjo Hall, OAU in 2012, beat Vector’s record for the longest freestyle on radio in June when he rapped for 1 hour 20 minutes. He is bad like that.

“For Chinko, the future is no longer tomorrow, it is now as he has what it takes to sail through the stormy music ocean. He could not have been on a better record label than YBNL, a record label with a CEO that believes in his style of rap music. Olamide (Baddo) can be compared to a football club which has just acquired the service of a world class striker, he only needs to sit back and watch this striker tear defenders apart.”, Sulaiman Olalekan writes in his article titled “CHINKO EKUN: Nigeria’s Next Rap King is here!”. Come 2016, Chinko will change how the game is played in the Nigerian music scene and he will lead YBNL to fame, money and power, *Roars*
