Top 40: Ola Dips bounces out, Yemi Alade’s ‘Ferrari’ rolls in

We have some impressive changes on the chart this week and our top 40 has never looked better than it does right now.

VIDEO: Ycee – Omo Alhaji

Landing a surprise number 9 spot, YCEE’s Omo Alhaji  is the highest peaking new entry, but closely pedalling behind is DJ Jimmy Jatts’s Turn Up featuring Flavour N’abania which lands a number 10 spot. Other familiar names with new entries include DJ Neptune with TGIF, MC Galaxy’s Dollar and  DJ Jimmy Jatt’s Feeling the Beat. The trio land 18th, 19th, and 22nd spots respectively.

Trending topics and buzzy new tracks have also kept the charts alive. Don Jazzy’ protege, Korrede Bello lands the 24th spot with Mungo Park. The song from Yemi Alade’s electrifying performance at last week’s AMVCAs, Ferrari also lands the 34th spot. Cynthia Morgan’s Olowo similarly squeezes in at the 38th spot. We expect these songs to gain major push in the coming weeks to climb up the charts.

With our new entries defined, here are songs whose stay on our top 40 has come full circle. Exiting the charts this week are the following songs; She Like It by DJ Consequence & Ketchup, Johnny Drille’s Wait For Me, Di’ja’s  Take Kiss, Viktoh’s Skibi Dat, 2baba’s Officially Blind, Eva Alordiah’s Kanayo, Orezi’s Yagolono and Black Magic’s Wonder which peaked at the number 9 spot before its descent.

Our top 10 this week is witnessing some major change. Thanks to a stunning Fela tribute video, D’banj’s Emergency tops the chart this week. Reekado Banks Oluwa Ni throttles behind, landing a number 2 spot. Consequently, after briefly glimpsing the top of the charts last week, Adekunle Gold’s Pick Up is back on its downward slope at the number 3 spot. 2baba’s Coded Tinz maintains its prior number 4 spot while Humble Smiths Osinachi remixes garners momentum up from its 7th place.
