WEDNESDAY WOMAN CRUSH: DI’JA

Dija1Featuring on today’s edition of Wednesday Woman Crush is Mavins very own Di’ja, who has seemingly been all up in our faces lately with her ad commercials for communication giants Globacom.

The Nigerian/Sierra Leonean singer who goes by the full name Hadiza Salma Blell is more popularly known as Di’ja. Aside being a multi linguist who speaks English, Hausa and Krio (Sierra Leonian language), she is also a multi talented singer, songwriter, visual artist and fashion designer.

The petite artiste who began music professionally in 2008 however had her career take a new turn when she got signed by Don Jazzy in 2014 as he sought to build a new empire after the Mo Hits breakup, the Don was able to develop and bring forth her strength, this led to the release of her debut single ‘Yaro’, which got her some buzz and attention, this was followed up with her verse on Dorobucci that actually impressed music lovers and increased her fan base. Her biggest endorsements however came following the release of ‘Awww’, this single gained her massive airplay as not just a member of the Mavins but a solo artist who can hold her own, it further increased her popularity ratings and the accompanying video was also appealing.

Her story to success has not entirely been smooth though as the songstress once told of how she did menial jobs including waitressing and having to work as a mascot at children’s parties to fund her music, that story is however now in the past as she is sealing deals and rocking stages nationwide despite the fact that she is yet to release her debut album. The debut album though seems to be in the works with the release of ‘Amen’ and the video for ‘Falling for you’ featuring Patoranking. The stage seems set for her to fully stake her claim on the scene come 2016.
