Born Aituaje Vivian Iruobe, popularly known as WAJE, which is an acronym that actually stands for ‘Words aren’t just enough’. A testament of how she sees her music and the many unsaid things she wishes to express.
As a young child, she once had the opportunity of performing before the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa who then supported her during her secondary school days. The sexy artiste who has a vocal range that covers three octaves first came to our notice after we heard her voice on P Square’s hit track ‘Do Me’. This brought her into major prominence as people sought to see the face behind the amazing voice.
The native of Edo state has since gone on from there to become one of the leading female songwriter/ singer in the country featuring on Banky W’s ‘Thief My Kele’, stunning on M.I’S ‘One Naira’, she also participated in the MTV Base organized Advanced Warning reality TV show where she came out as the first runner up and there has been no stopping her since then, the University of Nigeria graduate has since waxed stronger and released her self- titled debut studio album in 2013 which featured the hit single I Wish.
Amongst her influences are the likes of Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin and close friend Omawunmi, the mother of one who took his time off the scene has released couple of singles as she prepares to make a comeback with ‘Coco Baby’ and her latest single ‘Left for Good’ which features reggae sensation Patoranking, she has also shot a video for it as her first offering this year. She has also headlined the Strong Girl campaign which has seen her perform with the likes of Bono during the Lagos event.
The artiste who runs an NGO has won several awards over the past couple of years including Best Female Vocalist (NEA 2011, Headies 2011), Best Reggae/ Dance hall (Headies 2013) amongst others and as the nation waits in anticipation of her sophomore album due for 2016, the soul sister who has had no issues showing off her sexy body is our Wednesday Woman crush.
