Rise of an empire: Wizkid finally making major plans for his Starboy Worldwide records

It took him long enough but it appears after nearly three years of languishing in the background, Starboy Worldwide records, the forgotten child of Wizkid’s relationship-gone-sour with EME is finally getting some deserved attention.

The Starboy launched the independent front in 2013 but save for a couple of singles from L.A.X and the label’s logo plastered across everything related to Wizkid’s brand, not much has been heard about the label. Until now anyway.

In a series of tweets that only confirm some of the “Big things” Wiz has been teasing, the singer not only announced two major signings for the label, he also disclosed the change of administration. He unveiled Omar Sterling, R2Bees’ Padae as the new president of Starboy Worldwide records alongside the signing of songstress Efya and up and coming singer Mr. Eazi.

This comes in line with some major moves Wizkid’s team has been making to make sure his growing international appeal has a semblance of a structure to springboard from.

Giving his independent imprint some solid footing seems like a step in the right direction and it comes just in time for his long overdue third album release. Wiz has been teasing some major work getting done on the highly anticipated collective and if it turns out right, this could be a mapped early victory for Starboy records.
