Sojay’s many troubled career attempts to find a foothold in the industry may finally yielded some fruit with his new label Edge records, pushing his music out in the open.
After teasing the release of a body of work late last month via his social media accounts, the singer released the full EP titled ‘So Far’ today. The collective features three singles the singer has released over the last two years namely Sugar Cane which features label boss, Reminisce, Say Something and his recently released raunchy sex song, Fook You. Seven other songs are included in the EP to make a total 10 track collective.
Sojay has been around the block for a while meandering at the edge of fame. He started as an indie artiste who landed a record deal with Eldee’s Trybes Records in 2013. Under the label, he featured on some songs alongside his labelmates and released some covers. In his earlier days in the label, Eldee famously labelled SoJay as the best male vocalist out of Nigeria. However like many artistes who have exited the veteran’s label, the details of his exit from the label is just as sketchy as theirs’. Thankfully, Alaga Ibile, Reminisce came to his rescue in 2014 and the new label has been tasked with re-directing SoJay on a path worthy of his talents.
Speaking on the EP, the singer captioned the released artwork for the collective with the words “My life, my pain, my struggles, my prayers and the reality of things put into words”. Considering how far he has come, we can almost relate to what he is talking about.
So Far‘s minimalist tracklisting is also reflected in its features which only has Olamide outside the prior Reminisnce feature on the collective.
