WEDNESDAY WOMAN CRUSH: MOCHEDDAH

mo_cheddahModupe Oreoluwa Oyeyemi Ola goes by the stage name Mo’Cheddah.

She is a rapper/ singer/ songwriter, who has been into music since her teen years. The native of Osun State holds a Creative Arts degree from the University of Lagos.

Mo’Cheddah first caught our attention on the 2009 released Knighthouse anthem ‘Won Beri’ ,where she featured along the likes of Sauce Kid and Teeto Ceemos. Her verse won admiration amongst music lovers who felt she brought a breath of fresh air unto the scene.

She later went on to debut her album ‘Franchise Celebrity’ in 2010 under her former label Knighthouse Entertainment, the album spurned successful hit singles like ‘Ko maa roll’, ‘If you want me’ and ‘Uncensored’ which helped put her on the map as one of the hottest new kid on the block.

The success of the album led to her winning several awards like ‘Most Promising Act to watch’ at the NEA 2010 as well as bagging nominations at the 2010 Channel O Music Video Awards for ‘Most Gifted Female Video’, ‘Discovery of the year’, SMVAs 2010 and an Headies ‘Revelation of the Year Nomination’ in 2011.

Mo’Cheddah was on the up after this, building a strong fan base and staking a claim in the game, however, a fallout with the label that practically fathered her, controversies including a nude scandal and lackluster singles led to a lull and for a long while, the diva disappeared from our scenes and gradually from our minds as other young female talents emerged and filled the gap left by her.

Fast forward four years later, Mo Cheddah resurfaces reintroducing the world to that lovely playful voice that is hers only, she dropped the radio friendly single ‘Destinambari’ which featured Phyno, then followed up with Tori Olorun, Coming for you ft MayD and Bad ft Olamide.

The singer who recently turned 25 is strengthening her comeback with the recent release of her new single titled ‘Agogo’, which is a melodious and soulful tune that sets the perfect mood for this festive season, I guess we can now safely say that the self proclaimed ‘Princess of Pop’ is back.
